No need to rush to buy an Octopus card
I want to share an experience for those preparing to go to HK and buy an Octopus card.
No need to buy the card in Vietnam and pick it up at Hongkong airport, because:
- At the airport exit gate, there are automatic machines selling cards, very convenient to use Visa.
- If the plane is delayed, arrival time is past the card pickup time. For example, my case. Plane delayed, by the time I got to the booth, it was closed. When I went back, the pickup time had expired.
- At that time, contacting the seller in Vietnam, no support.
So I think just buy it there for convenience. Every station has service counters and 7-11 to guide and top up money.
