China High-Speed Rail: Use Your Passport, Not a QR Code

🚆 EXPERIENCE BOOKING CHINA HIGH-SPEED TRAIN TICKETS VIA TRIP.COM: DO YOU NEED A QR CODE? 🚆

Lately, many friends have started their self-guided exploration of China and often wonder about booking high-speed train (High-speed Railway) tickets on Trip.com. The most common question is: "Why after booking, there's no QR code, what if there's nothing to scan at the station?"

Let me quickly clarify for you so you don't worry:

🎫 Booking on Trip: Passport is all you need!
As announced by Trip, when you successfully book a high-speed train ticket, the ticket information is directly linked to your passport number on China's national railway system (12306).

In reality: You DO NOT NEED a QR code or paper ticket to board the train.

How to do it: When you arrive at the train station, you just need to hold the original passport used to book the ticket. Go to the lane with staff (Manual Lane) or the lane with passport scanner (if the new machine can recognize Vietnamese passport chip), the staff will scan your passport to confirm and open the gate for you.

⚠️ Distinguish between High-speed train and Metro (Subway)
Many friends confuse these two types, hence the worry about QR code:

High-speed train (Large stations): Use passport as "e-ticket". No QR code needed.

Metro (City subway): This one requires scanning QR code on apps (like Alipay, WeChat or each city's Metro app) or buying loose coins to pass the gate.

💡 A few small "tips" for beginners:
Check information: After booking on Trip, you will receive a booking code string (usually starting with E). Save a screenshot of this or the confirmation email to compare with staff if necessary.

Arrive early: High-speed train stations in China are very large and have airport-like security checks. You should arrive at least 45-60 minutes early to do passport check-in and luggage screening.

Payment on Trip: Using Visa/Mastercard on Trip is extremely convenient, money deducted directly and ticket confirmation very fast.

At the station: Just calmly queue at the lane with staff on duty (usually at both ends of the automatic ticket gate row), show your passport and done.

In summary: Just hold the original passport, confidently go to the station and you can travel all over China. If you're about to go and still worried about booking tickets or transportation, just message me, I'll guide you enthusiastically! 🏮🚄
