A Ghibli-Inspired Tokyo Itinerary: 8 Days of Wonder
Day 1: Arrival in Tokyo and Cultural Immersion
Our adventure begins! Arrive at Narita Airport (NRT) at 6:00 AM. A private car will whisk us away to Tokyo for a delicious breakfast and a visit to Yushima Tenmangu Shrine, known for its beautiful plum blossoms (seasonal).
At noon, after lunch, we'll explore Asakusa Temple, one of Tokyo's most iconic and vibrant temples.
By 4:30 PM, we'll check into our hotel. In the evening, we'll venture to Yokohama to see the historic Red Brick Warehouse and enjoy dinner in Yokohama's bustling Chinatown.
Day 2: Stepping into the World of Studio Ghibli
Today is dedicated to Studio Ghibli! After breakfast at 7:00 AM, we'll head to the Ghibli Museum, located just over an hour outside of central Tokyo.
Tickets are approximately ¥1000 for adults, ¥700 for junior high students, and ¥400 for children under 12. It's crucial to book tickets in advance, perhaps through travel agencies.

Day 5: Takayama's Old Town and Shirakawa-go's Gassho-style Farmhouses
After checking out and breakfast, we'll travel to Takayama's Old Town, often referred to as "Little Kyoto." Here, we'll immerse ourselves in the local culture and enjoy the hospitality of the friendly locals.
After we eat lunch, we'll depart for Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its unique Gassho-style farmhouses.
Day 6: Kyoto's Temples and Gion's Charm
Today we visit Kyoto and famous shrines:
- Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, known for its thousands of vermillion torii gates.
- Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), the symbol of Kyoto.
- Kiyomizu-dera Temple, to receive blessings from the three sacred water sources.
Around 5:00 PM, we'll arrive at our hotel in the Gion district. After checking in, we can explore the vibrant streets of Gion and enjoy dinner.
Day 7: Coastal Beauty: Amanohashidate and Ine no Funaya
Today, we'll explore some of Japan's most scenic coastal destinations, considered part of the "Three Views of Japan."
We'll journey to Amanohashidate, a sandbar pine grove across Miyazu Bay.
Next, we'll visit Ine no Funaya, a charming fishing village characterized by traditional boathouses along Ine Bay, often described as the "Venice of Japan."
After our sightseeing, we will make our way back to our Osaka hotel.
Day 8: Osaka Castle and Departure
On our final day, we'll check out of our hotel and enjoy a quick breakfast. We can also visit Osaka Castle.
Then, we'll transfer to Narita Airport (NRT), ensuring we arrive by 4:00 PM for our departure.
