Kuala Lumpur in 3 Days: An Easy Getaway! 🥳🥳🥳
Day 1: HCMC - KL - CitizenM Hotel
- Flew Air Asia (13:25-16:25) – landed at Terminal 02. Super convenient entry process!
- Immigration was a breeze, just answered a few simple questions. Have your flight and hotel bookings handy!
- Took the train to KL Sentral (110RM for 2). Then, hopped on the monorail (green line) for 4 stops to Bukit Bintang (arrived around 7 PM).
- Stayed at CitizenM near Jalan Alor – highly recommended! Modern, comfy, and everything's controlled by an iPad!
- Grabbed a Grab to Avenue K for Go Noodle House (amazing!). Then, explored Suria KLCC and the Petronas Twin Towers. Ended the night with some delicious street food on Jalan Alor.

Day 2: KL - Genting Highlands
- Woke up early and headed to Chinatown for HoKow Hainan. Worth the hour-long wait – the food was AMAZING! (Seriously, I went back a second time!)
- Grabbed a Grab to KL Sentral to catch a bus to Genting Highlands. Bus tickets were sold out, so I splurged on a private car (70RM per person – lesson learned!). The bus back was only 10RM per person!
- Genting Highlands is a massive entertainment complex. If you love theme parks, this is a MUST! Download the Genting Skyworlds app to book your rides in advance (like Universal Singapore's Express Pass).
- Spent about 5 hours exploring the park. Around 5 PM, took the cable car down to the outlet mall at the base of the mountain. Great deals on brands like Nike, Adidas, and Puma!
- Took a Grab to Fatty Crab Restaurant for chili crab. Absolutely delicious and a welcome change from Singaporean chili crab! The meal (1.8kg crab, fried rice, bread, drinks) cost around 280RM for two.
Day 3: Chinatown - Central Market - REXKL - Pavilion Mall - Lot10 Hutong Food Court
- Spent the day exploring and shopping! Grabbed a Grab from the hotel to Petaling Street for soy milk with brown sugar and Chinese porridge.
- Walked to Central Market for cute and modern souvenirs. Then, walked to REXKL, a cool bookstore and art space for young KL locals. Perfect photo ops!
- Grabbed a Grab to Pavilion. This mall is HUGE! Every brand imaginable is here. Be prepared to walk!
- Walked to Lot10, where you'll find Hutong Food Court in the basement. Try the noodles, claypot chicken rice, and desserts – delicious, cheap eats! Don Don Donki is on the ground floor for Japanese snacks.
- Stopped by Brand Outlet (BO) in Bukit Bintang. Amazing quality clothing at incredible prices! Deals like buy-one-get-one or 3 t-shirts for 55RM!
- Checked out of CitizenM and moved to Sleeping Lion Suite. Great price and view! It has a pool on the 37th floor... sadly, it was under maintenance until April 30th! Still, a great hotel option.
Overall Thoughts 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
- Airfare: surprisingly cheap, even during the holidays (half the price of domestic flights!).
- Hotel: Stay in Bukit Bintang for easy access to everything!
- Book tickets for attractions in advance to skip the lines.
- Grab is cheaper than the train from the airport. Try both!
- Respect local customs and regulations in different areas.
- KL is a fantastic, affordable alternative if you're tired of Thailand and Singapore.
Have a great trip! ❤️
