Asteria Mui Ne Resort Dining: A Detailed Food Review and Honest Impressions

A Deep Dive into the Dining Scene at Asteria Mui Ne

Let's talk food! This is a crucial part of any vacation, so I wanted to dedicate a special section to the dining experience at Asteria Mui Ne.

Buffet Bonanza: A Look at the Main Meals

If you opt for the full-service package with five meals a day at the resort, you'll enjoy three buffet meals. Now, if you're not too fussy about food, these buffets are perfectly adequate. They'll fill you up and save you the hassle of finding somewhere else to eat. But, I'd describe them as just "adequate." Here's why:

  • Drinks Station: The drinks selection is impressive, with plenty of options. Check out my photos and videos for a better look! There's even red and white wine available in the evenings, which is a nice touch. I didn't try them, but it's a slightly more upscale offering compared to other 4-star resorts.
  • Main Dishes: For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you'll find dishes like beef stew, fried chicken with fish sauce, soups, broths (with a self-serve noodle station), fried rice, porridge, stir-fried/boiled vegetables, stir-fried noodles, sausages, cold cuts, various egg dishes, roasted duck, roasted pork, "banh hoi" (rice vermicelli), spring rolls, "banh uot" (steamed rice paper), Vietnamese sausage, steamed cassava... These were the items I encountered during my three main meals. There were other dishes, but they were all pretty standard – nothing extraordinary like seafood or unique regional specialties.
  • Desserts and Pastries: The breakfast buffet features a delicious yogurt. The waffle station is a highlight, serving freshly made waffles with warm chocolate sauce. Other sweet treats, like croissants, muffins, chocolate cake, and passion fruit desserts, are similar to what you'd find elsewhere.
  • Kid-Friendly Corner: They have a cute candy corner for kids with tasty gummy candies and a cereal bar with fresh milk. Fruit options were somewhat limited, with mostly watermelon, longan, guava, and pineapple. They had a large bunch of green bananas that never seemed to ripen.

A definite plus: They provide kids' tableware in pink Hello Kitty for girls and blue for boys. Plates, trays, spoons, forks, and cups are readily available for little ones to use independently.

Missing Out on Afternoon Tea and Light Bites

We skipped the afternoon tea and mid-morning snack because we were either sleeping or busy swimming (and full!). I can't comment on the quality of those meals since we didn't experience them.

Drinks, Drinks, Drinks!

What I absolutely loved was the free-flowing drinks at the bars! The menu is diverse, and I personally found the drinks delicious and well-balanced. One evening, I enjoyed a "Teddy Bear" cocktail with a prominent pineapple flavor – it was so refreshing. My daughter, who isn't usually a smoothie fan, devoured a large strawberry yogurt smoothie and immediately asked for another! We also ordered various drinks during meals, and they always arrived quickly. I was a bit disappointed that the poolside restaurant wasn't open during my visit. I hope it will be next time so I can enjoy drinks while taking a dip!

Areas for Improvement

I did share one area for improvement directly with the resort: they need more kid-friendly food options like pizza, French fries, pasta, and ice cream. I hope they'll enhance the menu with more variety and better quality. Perhaps they could add some seafood options on weekends.

P.S. - Coffee Caution!

The pre-made coffee with milk at breakfast is really not good. I recommend making your own – trust me on this one!

P.S. - Honesty Matters

While I hope my reviews encourage bookings, I'm committed to providing honest feedback. I'll praise what's good and share what needs improvement to help others make informed decisions and have a fantastic, stress-free vacation.
